The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has released a list of 907 small-scale mining licenses at risk of revocation.
The potential revocations follow a review of existing licenses as part of efforts to sanitize the mining industry in Ghana.
According to a report submitted to the sector minister, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah (MP) on Monday, July 21, 2025, a total of 1,278 licenses were reviewed, of which 316 were cleared of any outstanding issues.
However, the remaining 962 licenses were found to have various irregularities, with 55 already revoked.

The irregularities included documentation gaps, procedural anomalies, and data quality issues.
The outstanding 907 licenses now face revocation after the deadline set by the Minister.
A three-member committee has been established to handle all correspondence and petitions regarding irregularities for corrections and amendments, where justified.
In a related development, a review of large-scale mining licenses is also expected to commence to address irregularities in the large-scale mining sector.
Below is the full list of the 907 small-scale mining licenses at risk of revocation.
