The National House of Chiefs has denied media reports suggesting Libyan leader Muammar al Qaddafi will be crowned king of African traditional rulers in Accra.Media reports have suggested the National House of Chiefs will be hosting a ceremony in Accra to officially crown the Libyan leader. But president of the National House of Chiefs, Naa Professor Nabila said that cannot be true.He said although the Libyan leader has been invited to participate in a conference for West African traditional rulers in Accra next week, he will not be crowned at the event. In August 2008 a meeting of more than 200 African kings and traditional rulers bestowed the title King of Kings on the Libyan leader at a ceremony in Benghazi, Libya.Col Al-Qaddafi has been pushing for more involvement of traditional leadership on the continent as an appendage for the immediate establishment of a unity government in Africa. But Prof Naa Nabila told Joy News the honour bestowed on the Libyan leader is only ceremonial. He said the ceremony coming off next week will afford African chiefs the opportunity to socialise with one another.“It’s more or less giving West African chiefs the opportunity of getting to know one another,” he insisted.Source: Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
