The Chamber of Licensed Gold Buyers (CLGB) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic military helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, which claimed the lives of eight distinguished Ghanaians on Wednesday, 6 August 2025.
The victims have been named as:
- Hon. Dr Edward Omane Boamah – Minister for Defence
- Hon. Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Muntala Mohammed – Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation
- Dr Samuel Sarpong – National Vice Chairman of the NDC
- Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna – Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator
- Mr Samuel Aboagye – Former NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Obuasi East
- Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala
- Flying Officer Manin-Twum Ampadu
- Sergeant Ernest Addo
In a statement signed by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr Kwaku Amoah, the Chamber described the incident as “a national tragedy and a painful loss to the entire nation.”
The CLGB extended heartfelt condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, the government, the Ghana Armed Forces, and the families and friends of the deceased.
“We stand in solidarity with the nation in this moment of national grief and pray for the peaceful repose of the departed souls,” the statement read.
The Chamber hailed the victims as committed public servants, politicians, and gallant officers whose contributions to regional security and environmental sustainability will be sorely missed.
Pointing to the significance of their mission, the CLGB noted that the purpose of the trip was of particular interest to the Chamber and the mining industry, making the loss even more profound.
“Our prayers are with the entire nation during this difficult time,” the statement concluded.
