Pan-African Savings and Loans, in partnership with Zoomlion Ghana Limited, has undertaken a comprehensive fumigation exercise at the Kaneshie Market. This Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative on the part of Pan-African aims to create a cleaner and healthier environment for traders and customers.
The exercise, which began with de-rating on Saturday, August 9th, continued with the fumigation of the interior of the market building on Sunday, August 10th. The final phase, which focused on fumigating the market’s exterior and surrounding areas, was completed on Wednesday, August 13.
According to Mrs. Linda Naykene, Head of Corporate Relations and Marketing at Pan-African, "The market is the heartbeat of community commerce, and its cleanliness directly impacts the health and well-being of thousands of traders and customers. This initiative is our way of giving back and ensuring that business thrives in a healthy environment."
The market authorities have praised the effort. Mr. Quarshie, the Managing Director of the Accra Markets, remarked that “This collaboration could not have come at a better time, as preventive efforts are being taken against the monkey pox virus. Clean markets mean happier traders, healthier customers, and a stronger economy. We are grateful to Pan-African and Zoomlion for their commitment. We urge all traders and customers to support this initiative and work together to keep our market clean.”
Mrs. Paula Sogbe, the Environmental Specialist of Accra Markets, expressed her gratitude to Pan-African and Zoomlion, saying, "We appreciate the efforts of Pan-African and Zoomlion in helping us maintain a clean and hygienic environment in the market. This initiative will go a long way in reducing the risk of diseases and improving the overall health and well-being of traders and customers."
Zoomlion provided technical expertise and manpower for the exercise, ensuring thorough coverage of the market’s interior and exterior spaces.
Pan-African has indicated that this will not be a one-off activity, but part of a broader program aimed at promoting hygiene, environmental sustainability, and community development across the country.
