The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has congratulated Godwin Asediba of Media General on winning the prestigious 2025 BBC Komla Dumor Award, describing his achievement as a source of national pride and inspiration for the journalism fraternity.
In a statement signed by its General Secretary, Dominic Hlordzi, the GJA commended Mr Asediba for his consistent excellence, innovation, and commitment to impactful storytelling.
The association noted that his recent international recognition, alongside the Michael Elliott Award for Excellence in African Storytelling and his laurels at the Ghana Journalists Association Awards, reflected his dedication to journalism that drives change and amplifies voices.
“Your consistent demonstration of excellence, innovation and commitment to impactful journalism continue to bring pride not only to the GJA but also to Ghana.
"The awards are real testaments to your devotion to telling weighty stories that engender change, amplify voices, and contribute to national development,” the statement read.
The association further encouraged young journalists to draw inspiration from Mr Asediba’s achievements, urging them to strive for truth, fairness, and professionalism in their work.
“As you hoist the flag of Ghanaian journalism to the world, we are assured that your work will continue to transform lives, influence policy, and project Ghana to the rest of the globe,” the GJA added.
The BBC Komla Dumor Award, established in honour of the late Ghanaian broadcaster Komla Dumor, celebrates African journalists who demonstrate exceptional talent, storytelling skills, and a commitment to covering stories that matter on the continent.
