The National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP) has assigned 550 young people in the Bono East Region to 110 craft masters for training in various vocational skills.
At the handover ceremony, Bono East Regional Minister Francis Owusu-Antwi urged the apprentices to conduct themselves responsibly, stressing that their performance would pave the way for others waiting to benefit.
He revealed that out of over 9,000 applicants, both online and physical, only 550 were selected to begin the training.
Deputy CEO of NAP, Alhaji Sulemana Mahama, disclosed that more than 500,000 youth nationwide are expected to benefit from the initiative, with the government covering all costs.
On behalf of the trainees, spokesperson Yeboah Evelyn expressed gratitude to the government and NAP for the opportunity, pledging that the apprentices would remain disciplined and committed to making the most of the programme.
