The Bono Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Fati Kine-Lam, has appealed to the public for support towards the upkeep of the victims of the Gbinyiri clash, presently seeking shelter in the region.
She said between 500 and 800 displaced people, mostly women, girls, and children who fled their homes in Gbinyiri and surrounding communities in the Savannah Region, were presently sheltered at Subinso Number Two in the Wenchi Municipality of the region.
However, Mrs. Kine-Lam told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Subinso Number Two that more assistance was required from the public and development partners to care for the victims.
“In fact, the present condition of the victims, especially the children, is not good, and we need urgent humanitarian services for them,” she appealed.
She called on the government, security agencies, traditional authorities, and key stakeholders in the Savannah Region to do more to resolve and stem the conflict to restore peace in the area.
“Peace is priceless, and the nation requires absolute peace to accelerate development,” the NADMO Regional Director urged.
The Bono NADMO Office and the Wenchi Municipal Assembly later presented some relief items to the victims.
