A land dispute in Keta has escalated into a full-blown legal battle, with the Sogakope High Court set to hear a case filed by Mr. Richard Pomeyie of Tema against Mr. Amadeo Anthony Allan and Mr. Michael Attipoe, both of Keta in the Volta Region.
According to court filings, Mr. Pomeyie, the son of the late Elsie Worlali, is seeking a declaration of title to property he says belonged to his parents, who lived on the land for over 30 years. He claims the defendants unlawfully demolished his parents’ building and have since been developing the land without authorisation.
In his statement of claim, the plaintiff averred that the tidal wave surges at Keta destroyed documents covering the property, but he intends to rely on the Limitation Act to prove ownership through long possession. He further alleges that his parents rented out parts of the property to tenants during their lifetime and that the house is located next to his grandmother’s property.

The writ of summons, issued in September 2025, commands the defendants to enter an appearance within eight days of service or risk judgment being entered in their absence.
In addition to an interlocutory injunction to restrain the defendants, Mr. Pomeyie is asking the court for:
- Recovery of possession of the disputed property
- Damages for trespass
- An order compelling the defendants to pay for the demolished property
- Legal costs and fees
In an affidavit supporting the injunction application, the plaintiff’s counsel, Isaac Aidoo of Rohi Legal Consult, argued that the defendants are “feverishly developing” the property and that if they are not restrained, they may alter the land permanently in ways that damages cannot compensate.
The motion is expected to be moved later this month at the Sogakope High Court.
