The Ghana Theatre Festival 2025 was officially launched on Wednesday, September 10, at the National Theatre in Accra.
The festival, which will take place from September 23rd to 28th is under the theme “Showcasing the Rich Diversity of Ghanaian Culture through Performing Arts.”
The event will celebrate Ghana’s cultural heritage through drama, music, and dance, while also encouraging collaboration and industry growth.

At the launch, the Acting Executive Director of the National Theatre, Henry Malm, stated that the festival is a platform for creative individuals to connect, share ideas, and collaborate.
A well-known producer and actor, George Quaye's play 'Run for Your Wife' will be part of the festival.
He called for more government support for the creative arts and encouraged taking the festival to more communities.
He also supported partnerships between Ghana and Nigeria, especially with Nollywood, to boost storytelling and the creative industry in West Africa.

Sponsors and partners at the launch showed strong support, noting that the festival would help promote Ghana’s cultural identity and the growth of the arts sector.
The Executive Director further stated that this year’s festival will be special, with key speakers discussing how theatre can help national development and preserve culture.
With the festival just weeks away, excitement is growing as the Ghana Theatre Festival 2025 promises to be more than entertainment; it’s a celebration of Ghanaian culture and creativity.
