The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has confirmed that calm has been restored following a disturbance at the Hamile Border Post on the evening of Saturday, 13th September 2025, involving members of the local community.
In a press statement issued on Monday, September 15, the Service acknowledged the incident with concern and assured the public, particularly residents of the Hamile community, that the situation was swiftly brought under control with the support of other relevant security agencies.
“Management of the Service wishes to assure the general public, particularly the Hamile community, that the situation has since been brought under control, and calm has been restored,” the statement read.
The Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr Samuel Basintale Amadu, has ordered a full investigation into the events that led to the unrest.

The GIS promised that all appropriate measures will be taken once the findings are established.
“The Comptroller-General has directed the initiation of a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Appropriate measures will be taken following the outcome of the investigations,” the statement said.
While the specific cause of the disturbance has not yet been publicly detailed, the GIS appealed for calm and cooperation from residents as the investigation proceeds.
“The Service appeals to the public and the community to remain calm and cooperative as the matter is thoroughly investigated,” the release continued, adding that updates will be provided in due course.
The GIS emphasised its commitment to maintaining peace and security at all border points and reiterated its dedication to working with communities to foster trust and collaboration.
