In a virtual interview with Myjoynline, Nigerian corporate strategist Olajide Alex Ajide shared insights into his rise as one of Africa’s emerging leaders in global finance.
Since joining Bank of America in July 2022 as an Investment Banking Associate, Mr Ajide has played key roles in major transactions, including Holcim’s $1.3 billion acquisition of DuroLast Roofing and the strategic sale of TenCate Grass by Crestview Partners.
His analytical foresight and leadership in complex negotiations have earned him a reputation as a trusted voice shaping the future of investment banking.
Before his current role, Ajide distinguished himself at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Nigeria, where he led corporate tax strategies that delivered over $10 million in savings for clients.
His innovative approach to tax optimisation and negotiation redefined efficiency, cutting burdens by more than 30 per cent and reinforcing client financial resilience.
Now recognised as a thought leader in African finance, Mr Ajide advocates for a transformative model of investment banking that merges digital innovation, advanced financial modelling, and sustainable strategies.
He emphasises integrating ESG principles into traditional financial tools such as discounted cash flow and accretion/dilution analyses—an approach he believes will unlock Africa’s long-term growth potential.
“Africa’s development requires more than capital—it demands innovation, sustainability, and courage to apply global best practices in an African way,” Ajide told Myjoyonline.
With an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business, he combines global perspective with local insight, inspiring a generation of professionals to pursue excellence and reimagine the continent’s financial landscape.
