President of the Badminton Association of Ghana (BAG), Evans Yeboah, will run for a third term following the expiration of his mandate in December this year.
Evans Yeboah was first voted into office in 2017, but has told JoySports that he wants to see out a full implementation of the programs he started.
‘‘We started a program for 12 years, so from 2017, like I mentioned, up to 2032, we are not done yet at where we are going. There are also succession plans that we are building across all our blocks and our development channels, and these things have not been exhausted.’’
The programs Yeboah references are mostly the BAG’s program for youth development.
Products of that system currently dominate the badminton national team, Ghana Shutters, who are now representing the country in continental meets.
In August, Ghana made history at the 2025 Badminton Grand Slam Championships, securing a staggering 29 medals (12 gold, 7 silver, 10 bronze) across all categories, in Sub-Juniors, Juniors, and Seniors, cementing its dominance as the tournament’s top-performing nation.
‘‘So we can sustain those strategic initiatives that we can carry the sport to the next level, and anyone who comes can also continue from where we got to.’’
Yeboah's ambitions for a third term are accommodated by the BAG's current regulations as there is no limit for its presidents.
The BAG is yet to release the election roadmap for the elective congress.
