Asante Kotoko striker Albert Amoah is a major doubt for the Confederation Cup second leg match against Wydad Athletic of Morocco.
The striker was largely inconspicuous in the first leg of Sunday's final round eliminator, due to a recurring injury problem.
Before Sunday's match, Amoah had only trained once in the week and had to pass a late fitness test to play.
Yet, Zito persisted, starting the striker who has scored four goals in five matches this season.
Any chances of influencing the game fizzled within minutes of kick off when Brazilian center back Guilherme Ferreira rotated kicks to his hamstring and ankle.
Early in the second half, he took another knock to his ankle and limped for the rest of the game.
Amoah has struggled for fitness since spraining his ankle two weeks ago.
The incident occurred when he suffered a heavy contact to his ankle in Kotoko's 2-0 win over Gold Stars in Kumasi.
Amoah was subsequently substituted in the 70th minute of.Kotoko have remained tightlipped on the extent of the knocks he suffered on Sunday.
Head coach Karim Zito declined to give specific details of the strikers situation during the post match conference.
The strikers situation worsens an already skint squad as Kotoko are presently without Saaka Dauda, Kwame Opoku and Baba Yahaya who are all out for unspecified periods.
If Amoah is unable to play on Sunday, new signing Donzo Morifing will lead Kotoko's attack even though he is yet to score in four league appearances this season.
The Porcupine Warriors must overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg, when the face Wydad Athletic in Casablanca on Sunday.
