A Kumasi High Court has dismissed an injunction application aimed at halting the burial and funeral arrangements for Ghana’s highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.
The application, filed by Madam Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, who identifies herself as the musician’s legal wife, sought to block the head of the extended family and another woman also identifying as his spouse from proceeding with funeral rites.
It arose amid a complex dispute over widowhood rights, funeral control and the validity of marriages.
The late musician passed away on 26 July 2025. His family had announced that the final funeral rites would take place on December 6, 2025, at Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
The legal challenge now raises the possibility of delay or adjustment of the planned date.
Contestants in the case include the head of the musician’s family, Kofi Owusu Fosu, and Ms. Priscilla Ofori, also known as “Odo Broni”, who claims to have been married to the star and bore children with him.
Madam Serwaa maintained her status as the only legally married wife, arguing that her rights are being sidelined.
