Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, who is also acting as the Environment Minister, has arrived in Brazil to spearhead Ghana’s efforts at the crucial COP 30 climate summit.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology dated Tuesday, November 5, 2025, the Minister will deliver Ghana’s national statement at the Summit of Heads of State on Thursday, November 6, on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama.
The high-level address is expected to outline Ghana’s climate priorities and commitments, setting the stage for the country’s participation in the international negotiations.
This year’s Conference of the Parties (COP 30) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is being held in Belém, a city in northern Brazil. The summit, which runs from November 6 to November 21, will bring together world leaders, negotiators, and civil society groups to make key decisions on climate action, nature conservation, and sustainable development.
As the leader of the Ghanaian delegation, Armah-Kofi Buah, who is also the Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, will participate in ministerial dialogues and various scheduled engagements throughout the conference.

The government says Ghana’s involvement underscores its dedication to global climate efforts.
The press release stated that the participation is “a mark of the government’s commitment to safeguarding the environment through knowledge sharing, rich dialogue, and mutually beneficial relationships with allied countries.”
COP 30 serves as a critical platform for nations to negotiate and collaborate on strategies to combat climate change, an issue of significant importance to Ghana, which faces challenges like coastal erosion, variable rainfall, and other climate-related impacts.
