Unilever Ghana PLC has announced the appointment of Charles Boakye Nimako, the current Director of Africa Initiatives for Safe Water Network, a US-based NGO, as its new Board Chairman.
Mr Nimako’s appointment, which also designates him as a non-executive director, took effect on November 1, 2025.
This follows the exit of Mr Edward Effah from the board in October 2025.
A notice copied to Joy Business also announced the resignation of three other non-executive directors, including Dr Edith Dankwa. Unilever Ghana expressed its appreciation to the outgoing directors for their dedication and contributions to the company over the past nine years.
In addition, Unilever Ghana has appointed five new non-executive directors, including Mr Peterson Ekow Afedzi, a former managing director of the Ghana Stock Exchange.
Profile of the New Board Chairman
Mr Charles Boakye Nimako brings extensive experience and leadership from the private sector, particularly in addressing challenges associated with rural water delivery.
Before establishing the Safe Water Network Ghana office in May 2010, Mr Nimako served as Chief Executive Officer of Beverage Investments Ghana Limited and SBC Beverages Ghana Limited, both PepsiCo franchise holders.
He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
Mr Nimako currently serves on the boards of Zenith Bank Ghana Limited, Beverage Investments Ltd (Pepsi-Cola), and Beverly Ranch Ghana Limited.
