The Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) has officially begun its rollout of the Ghana Health Information Management System (GHIMS), marking a major milestone in the restoration of digital health information management at the facility.
The new system aims to improve efficiency in healthcare delivery by enabling smooth and secure information sharing between healthcare facilities across the country.
Welcoming the National Rollout and Stabilisation Team from the Ministry of Health at an entry meeting, the Chief Executive Officer of TTH, Dr (Med.) Abubakari Bawah Abdulai, expressed his delight at the hospital’s inclusion in the national rollout.

He described GHIMS as “very dear to the Tamale Teaching Hospital,” and assured the team of his personal commitment and the full cooperation of staff throughout the implementation process.
Dr Bawah said the initiative aligns perfectly with the hospital’s vision to improve efficiency and service quality through technology-driven solutions.
Ahead of the deployment, the team from the Ministry of Health engaged key stakeholders, including central management, Sub-BMC managers, and unit heads, to discuss the implementation strategy for critical departments. On-site training sessions have also begun for staff in selected units.

The rollout of GHIMS at TTH underscores the Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh’s commitment to advancing quality healthcare delivery through digital transformation.
The system is expected to promote efficiency, improve data accuracy, and ensure seamless healthcare service delivery within the hospital and beyond.
