Ghana’s Ministry of Sports and Recreation has extended heartfelt congratulations to Samson Deen following his re-election as President of the African Paralympic Committee (AfPC).
Deen secured an emphatic 95% of the votes to retain his position, extending his leadership of the continental body until 2029.
Since assuming office in 2021, Deen has championed major initiatives aimed at promoting inclusivity, increasing athlete participation, and enhancing the visibility of Paralympic sports across Africa.
This year’s General Assembly, which brought together delegates from 41 member nations, marked a significant moment for the Paralympic movement on the continent.
The gathering also saw the election of a new Executive Board, once again led by Deen.
"The Ministry applauds President Deen for once again earning the confidence of the continent and for positioning Ghana as a symbol of inclusion, excellence, and transformational leadership in para-sports.
“His re-election is a national achievement and reflects Ghana's increasing influence in international sports governance. We also extend our gratitude to all delegates and partners whose collaboration contributed to a successful, impactful, and progressive Assembly," the statement read.
Deen’s re-election is seen as a major boost for Ghana’s sports diplomacy and reaffirms the country’s growing stature in global sports administration.
