The much-anticipated arraignment of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and seven others in the Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML) scandal has been put on hold after the High Court failed to sit on the originally scheduled date, Monday, November 24, 2025.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), which had earlier announced plans to present all eight accused persons before the Criminal Division of the High Court today, confirmed the postponement in an update posted on its official Facebook page.
The notice read: “CR/0106/2026 Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta & 7 Ors. This case has been adjourned as the Court would not sit on the originally scheduled date of 24 November 2025. A new date would be communicated to the Republic and the Accused Persons.”
The adjournment means the 78 charges filed against Mr Ofori-Atta and the others, ranging from conspiracy to influence the procurement process to alleged breaches of the Public Procurement Act, will now be heard at a later date to be announced by the court.
The accused include former GRA Commissioners-General Dr Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah and Emmanuel Kofi Nti; senior GRA officials Isaac Crentsil and Kwadwo Damoa; former Finance Ministry Technical Advisor Ernest Akore; SML owner Evans Adusei; and Strategic Mobilisation Limited.
Their scheduled appearance was expected to mark a major step in the OSP’s high-profile prosecution over the controversial GRA–SML revenue assurance contracts, a case that has triggered widespread public debate on procurement integrity, oversight failures, and accountability in public financial management.
With today’s adjournment, both the state and defence teams must now await a new date from the court before proceedings can commence.
