Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has alleged that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had prior knowledge of the Tamale High Court’s judgment annulling the 2024 parliamentary election results for the Kpandai Constituency.
Addressing the press on Wednesday, November 26, he described the situation as deeply troubling.
“The sad part of it is that the NDC candidate and his supporters were aware of the judgment before the day. To the extent that on the day of the judgment, the Regional Minister led a team of NDC party faithful into the courtroom, anticipating the expected results, the result that they were going to have judgment in their favour,” he stated.

He further claimed that although the judge initially indicated his judgement would be ready by Friday, “In less than 24 hours, a court order was being served on Parliament and Hon. Matthew Nyindam.”
He questioned the integrity of the process, asking, “What kind of kangaroo judicial system do we have now in Ghana?”
His remarks follow a ruling by the Tamale High Court, presided over by Justice Emmanuel Brew Plange, which annulled the 2024 parliamentary election results for Kpandai and ordered a fresh poll within 30 days.
The decision came after NDC candidate Daniel Nsala Wakpal successfully petitioned the court, citing serious irregularities in the December 7, 2024, election.
