The Ahafo Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects believed to be part of an organised robbery syndicate responsible for a series of coordinated attacks on multiple businesses in Nkasiem on December 2.
A statement issued by the Police, the syndicate is reported to have simultaneously targeted a gold buying company, a cocoa buying company, and made an unsuccessful attempt to break into the vault of the Asutifi Rural Bank, all located within the same vicinity.
According to the Police, the heavily armed suspects seized two Police rifles during the attacks. The robbers, wielding pump-action guns, also shot and wounded a civilian in the thigh.
The victim was rushed to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Hwidiem/AHR, where he was treated and subsequently discharged.
The Police noted that the arrests were made following a “targeted intelligence-led operation” that enabled the Ahafo Regional Command to apprehend two members of the group.

A manhunt has since been launched for the remaining suspects who are currently on the run.
In response to the seriousness of the incident, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno has deployed a special anti-robbery team from the National Police Headquarters in Accra to reinforce regional efforts.
The specialised unit is expected to work alongside local officers to track down the remaining members of the criminal network and bring them to justice.
The Police Command assured the public that no effort would be spared in dismantling the syndicate. “All members of the criminal syndicate will be identified and arrested to face the full rigours of the law,” the statement affirmed, urging residents to remain calm and cooperate with ongoing investigations.
