Former Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has criticised the government over the withdrawal of the anti-OSP bill, calling it either a sign of confusion or a calculated PR move.
Reacting to reports that President John Dramani Mahama asked the Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, and Majority Chief Whip, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, to suspend their move to introduce a Private Members’ Bill to abolish the OSP, Mr Oppong Nkrumah said "it is one of two things that is happening..."
"Either the ruling party is confused, or this is a calculated public relations gimmick, in that making it look like people wanted to do something and the President has stopped it, and he looks good.”
The Ofoase-Ayirebi legislator argued that the withdrawal appeared timed to create the impression that the President had solved a problem.
"It was a PR gimmick, or that they were confused."
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah dismissed the move as unimpressive, describing it as “an old trick in the books where you create a problem and you solve it, or it is clear evidence that you are confused."
"None of it impresses us," he added.
