Dr Gideon Boako, the Member of Parliament for Tano North, has strongly criticised Bryan Acheampong over what he describes as a “blatant falsehood” regarding the New Patriotic Party’s internal contest, describing the claim as nauseating and misleading.
According to Dr Boako, Acheampong’s assertion that he advised Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President of Ghana, to stay out of the contest is completely untrue.
He insisted that no such conversation ever took place between Acheampong and Dr Bawumia, and dismissed the claim as a fabrication.
The Tano North MP questioned the motive behind the alleged falsehood, stating that it “beats imagination” why anyone would believe that resorting to lies could advance their political interests.
He warned that the spread of misinformation only undermines trust within the party and among the wider public.
Dr Boako further urged political actors to engage honestly and responsibly, especially at a time when credibility and integrity are critical to public confidence.
He emphasised that leadership contests should be grounded in truth, ideas and respect, rather than what he described as deliberate attempts to mislead.
