Philip Ayesu has been crowned 2025 Achimota Club Champion after a commanding 4&2 victory over Percival Kwadjo Ampoma in a thrilling match-play final on Tuesday 23rd Dec.
The final attracted huge attention, with Percy unbeaten in match play throughout 2025 and both players evenly matched on a handicap of 6.
Percy struck first with a birdie on Hole 1, but Philip responded immediately on Hole 2 to bring the match back to all square.
From Hole 3 onwards, Philip took firm control of proceedings, steadily building momentum and applying relentless pressure.
By Hole 15, he was 3 up with 3 holes to play. The match was sealed on Hole 16 when Philip calmly secured a par, while Percy dropped a bogey, ending the contest at 4&2.
A composed performance, strong course management, and mental toughness defined Philip’s run through the knockout stages and the final.
