Pollster and Executive Director of independent research firm Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwa, says Dr Mahamudu Bawumia currently performs better than other leading New Patriotic Party (NPP) contenders when pitched against the top four figures within the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking on the AM Show, Mr Dankwa disclosed findings from the firm’s latest December poll, which tested several hypothetical presidential match-ups ahead of the 2028 general elections.
According to him, the data shows that regardless of which NPP flagbearer is selected, Dr Bawumia consistently records stronger numbers than Kennedy Ohene Agyapong when matched against potential NDC candidates.
“If you flip the coin and assume the NPP elects Kennedy, and you pitch him against the NDC’s top four, the numbers show the NDC candidate going up to about 61 or 62 per cent, while Kennedy sits around 34 per cent,” he explained.
Mr Dankwa said similar patterns emerged when Kennedy Agyapong was tested against different NDC figures. Against one NDC contender, Asiedu-Nketiah polled 57 per cent compared to Kennedy’s 38 per cent, while another scenario recorded 53 per cent for Julius Debrah and 41 per cent for Kennedy.
“These are the scenarios we ran in the December polling that has just been released. And in all of them, Bawumia is doing better. That’s the data at the moment,” he noted.
While Mr Dankwa cautioned that political dynamics can shift over time, he stressed that the current data offers an early snapshot of how voters may respond to different flagbearer options, underscoring the importance of strategic decision-making ahead of future elections.
