The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has instructed the Technical Adviser to the Ministry of Health, Dr Korku Awoonor, to constitute a technical working group to undertake a comprehensive audit of all health facilities in the Oti Region.
The planned audit will assess the structural integrity, operational capacity and overall productivity of the facilities, to improve healthcare delivery and safeguard the well-being of both patients and health professionals.
The directive was issued at the Ministry of Health’s two-day management retreat and forms part of a broader government effort to strengthen oversight of health infrastructure and ensure that public health facilities comply with approved safety, quality and performance standards.
In a related move to enhance patient care, the Minister has also directed that 24-hour cleaning services be introduced in all public hospitals nationwide.
The initiative is expected to improve hygiene standards, strengthen infection prevention and control measures, and create cleaner, safer and more patient-friendly hospital environments.
According to the Ministry, the measures underscore its commitment to raising standards across the health sector through improved supervision, better facility management and sustained investments aimed at delivering quality healthcare to all Ghanaians.
