The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts has extended its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, colleagues and fans of the late renowned gospel musician and choral icon Yaw Sarpong, as well as his longtime soloist, Mary Tiwaa.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, January 22, the Ministry described the passing of the two music legends as deeply sorrowful, noting that their musical journey played a significant role in shaping gospel music and choral development in Ghana.
The statement paid tribute to Yaw Sarpong for his dedication, mentorship and artistic excellence, highlighting his role in nurturing generations of musicians and enriching Ghana’s cultural and spiritual landscape through his leadership of the Asomafo group.
The Ministry further indicated that the enduring musical partnership between Yaw Sarpong and Maame Tiwaa would continue to inspire the creative arts sector and the nation as a whole.
“Together, their contributions remain unparalleled, and their collective legacy continues to inspire the Creative Arts Sector and the nation,” the statement said.
