President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Dubai to participate in the 2026 World Governments Summit, a premier international forum aimed at shaping the future of governance worldwide.
President Mahama departed Accra aboard an aircraft provided by the President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, which will also convey him onward to Lusaka following the conclusion of the summit.
He touched down in Dubai in the early hours of Monday, February 2, 2026, and was received by Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State of the UAE.

The 2026 summit, themed “Shaping Future Governments,” convenes governments, international organisations, business leaders, and experts to explore innovative solutions to global challenges, strengthen international cooperation, and inspire the next generation of public service.
Its agenda is built around five key pillars: Global Governance and Effective Leadership; Societal Wellbeing and Capacity Building; Economic Prosperity and Emerging Opportunities; Urban Futures and Evolving Demographics; and Future Realities and Next Frontiers.
Held at Madinat Jumeirah, the summit provides a platform for leaders in government, business, and science to exchange ideas on governance, innovation, and forward-looking public policy initiatives.
Notable attendees include Julius Maada Bio, President of Sierra Leone; Daniel Noboa, President of Ecuador; Guy Parmelin, President of the Swiss Confederation; Pedro Sánchez, Prime Minister of Spain; Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the IMF; and Jasem Al Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, alongside other global dignitaries.
President Mahama’s participation underscores Ghana’s commitment to engaging in high-level international dialogue and contributing to efforts aimed at building more effective, innovative, and forward-looking governments.
