The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has categorically denied claims that it purchased 15 laptops at an inflated price of GHS322,500, describing the allegations as “complete falsehood.”
According to the Board, the procurement was conducted legitimately through a single-source method authorised by the Public Procurement Authority (PPA).
GoldBod explained that the laptops were procured in November 2025 from GET4LESS Ghana Limited to equip newly appointed Directors and Deputy Directors.
“Given the urgent nature of the procurement and the specific technical requirements, GET4LESS was the only supplier capable of meeting the Board’s quantity and delivery timeline,” the statement said.
The Board further clarified that each laptop, a Lenovo ThinkPad T14S with Core i7 1355U, 16GB RAM, and 512GB SSD, was purchased at GHS21,500, which aligns with prevailing market rates.
“A simple check of the supplier’s website shows the market price is GHS21,505, confirming that the procurement was competitively priced,” GoldBod added.
Approval for the purchase was also obtained from the Ministry of Finance in accordance with the Public Procurement Act, and the contract details were published on the Board’s website on March 10, 2026.
“Any suggestion that these contracts were intercepted or procured improperly is entirely unfounded,” the Board emphasised.
Prince Kwame Minka, Media Relations Officer, reiterated the institution’s commitment to integrity.
“The Ghana Gold Board holds transparency and accountability as core principles and will continue to ensure that all contracts and procurement activities are publicly disclosed,” he said, urging the public to reject misinformation circulating online.
