The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has signed an agreement with the Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA) to undertake geological investigations in three mineralised blocked-out areas located in Funsi, Atuna and Bensere East as part of Phase One of the project.
The initiative marks a significant step by GoldBod to promote responsible and data-driven mining practices in Ghana.
The investigations are expected to generate reliable geological data that will support the establishment of model mines and strengthen sustainable mineral resource development in the country.

Under the agreement, the GGSA will provide geological investigation services over a four-month period at a cost of GH¢27.5 million.

The work will focus on assessing the mineral potential of the designated areas to support strategic mining development and policy planning.
The three blocked-out mineralised zones form part of 20 areas that were released to GoldBod by the Minerals Commission of Ghana.

Through initiatives such as this, GoldBod says it aims to enhance sustainability in the mining sector while maximising national gold output for the benefit of Ghanaians.
