One person was injured after a Kia Rhino lorry transporting animal feed overturned at Omenako in the Suhum Municipality of the Eastern Region on the Accra–Kumasi Highway following an attempt by the driver to avoid a fuel tanker that was reportedly overtaking dangerously.
According to a post shared on Facebook by the Ghana National Fire Service, the road traffic accident occurred on Tuesday, July 7, prompting a response from firefighters at the Suhum Municipal Fire Station of the Ghana National Fire Service.

Upon arriving at the scene, the emergency crew found the Kia Rhino lying overturned off the road, with bags of animal feed scattered around the crash site after part of the vehicle's cargo spilled during the incident.

Preliminary information indicates that the driver lost control of the vehicle while attempting to avoid an unidentified fuel tanker that was allegedly overtaking improperly. The tanker reportedly left the scene, and its identity has not yet been established.

Firefighters immediately carried out a comprehensive search of the wreckage to ensure that no occupants were trapped inside the overturned vehicle. Their assessment confirmed that all occupants had been accounted for and that no rescue operation was required.
The accident left one person with injuries. Details regarding the severity of the injuries were not immediately available, but emergency responders ensured that the victim received the necessary attention at the scene.

In addition to the injury, the crash caused significant damage to the Kia Rhino, while part of the consignment of animal feed being transported was also damaged.
After completing their assessment, firefighters secured the accident scene to eliminate any potential hazards and facilitate the safe movement of other motorists using the busy Accra–Kumasi Highway.
