The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) will on Wednesday launch a Membership Value Programme to provide contributors and pensioners with value-added benefits and services beyond statutory pensions.
The initiative seeks to enhance the membership experience by offering meaningful rewards and support services to all members, including self-employed contributors and pensioners, according to a statement issued by the Trust and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday.
The official launch will bring together key stakeholders to unveil the programme and explain the range of benefits as well as how members can access them.
The statement said the Membership Value Programme formed part of SSNIT’s broader strategy to improve customer experience through innovative, member-centred interventions.
It said the initiative followed the recent introduction of the SSNIT Telehealth Service for pensioners, which enables retirees to access healthcare services remotely.
“The Member Value Programme represents another significant shift in SSNIT’s commitment to delivering value to members during their working lives, even before the payment of pensions and related benefits are due,” the statement said.
It said the programme would strengthen members’ sense of belonging while reinforcing the value of contributing to the national pension scheme.
“The introduction of the MVP highlights SSNIT’s determination to continuously innovate and enhance the overall value proposition of the Scheme for both current and future members,” the statement added.
SSNIT is the statutory administrator of Ghana’s Basic National Social Security Scheme under the National Pensions Act, 2008 (Act 766), as amended. It manages the mandatory First Tier pension scheme, providing income security for workers in both the formal and informal sectors upon retirement.
The Trust collects and invests members’ contributions and pays monthly pensions, as well as invalidity and survivors’ benefits, to eligible beneficiaries.
In recent years, it has expanded its digital and customer-focused services to improve accessibility, operational efficiency and the overall experience of members.
