Police have ended search efforts for a supposed victim of the Odumase road accident, which claimed 13 lives on the spot.
After failed attempts to find the body at all health facilities, the body of a 30-year-old mechanic was found under the DAF bus following a request from the bus owner.
The deceased and one Daniel said to be the dedicated mechanics on the bus we reported missing around the same time of the accident.

Police continue the rescue efforts as a towing truck arrived and moved the accident vehicles away. With the support of relatives, every effort was employed as patrons searched through heaps of tomatoes and the belongings of victims.
Impact of Odumase accident on the community

Here is Konongo Divisional Motor, Transport and Traffic Department Commander ASP Frank Asare Awuah, who has been leading the rescue efforts.
"We had information from a relative that two of his brothers were on the bus. And he couldn't locate them when he visited the hospital and the morgue. So we arranged for the towing vehicle, we came back to the scene, and the towing vehicle moved the two vehicles from their respective position. And through the search, one body was discovered."

But the hope of relatives to see Daniel dead or alive was dashed as rescue efforts failed to produce him after several minutes of search.
"They were anticipating that because they were two, they think there is another person. So we've been searching, and that is where we've reached now. But now that the towing vehicle have removed the vehicles to different positions, I think we will be doing it about an hour time, if nothing is found, we will break and come tomorrow morning to continue with the search." ASP Awuah added.

Meanwhile, all 47 victims who sustained various degrees of injuries are in stable condition.
However, doctors at the Asante Akim Central Municipal Hospital say two female victims will be referred to seek orthopedic care for fractures in upper and lower limbs.
