A trailer driver has died following a road accident at Kordzeto in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta Region.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), Hohoe Command, said it responded to the incident on Thursday, February 26, after receiving a distress call at 3:09 pm.
In a statement filed by the Public Relations Office of the Service in the Volta Region on Friday, February 27, the Service said, “A distress call was received at 1509 hours, and the crew arrived a few minutes later.”
According to the release, the driver was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash. He became trapped in the wreckage.
“The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was trapped, though rescued by firefighters, unfortunately, he did not survive,” the statement said.
Firefighters worked quickly to free the victim and secure the accident scene. The Hohoe Municipal Commander, DOIII Bismark Hosu-Porbley, was present to supervise operations.
The Service said the commander “was on site to provide technical supervision” as the team managed the situation.

After rescuing the driver, personnel focused on preventing further danger. They secured the area, removed possible fire hazards and cleared the road to allow traffic to move safely.
Firefighters also coordinated recovery efforts following what officials described as extensive damage to the trailer and its cargo of cement.
The Ghana National Fire Service said its team “secured the scene, eliminated fire risks, and cleaned the roadway” after the crash.
