Ernest Chemists Ltd (ECL) has joined the chiefs and people of Dagbon to mourn the passing of the late Ya Na Abubakari II and support the traditional transition process following his death.

The company presented a cheque for GH¢50,000 and products valued at GH¢20,000 to the Gbewaa Palace on Friday, July 31, 2026.

The ECL delegation, led by Marketing and Corporate Communications Manager Clement Atagra, was at the Palace to observe the solemn traditional proceedings and the installation of Kampakuya Naa Yakubu II as Regent.

The occasion marked an important symbolic stage in Dagbon’s traditional transition ahead of the selection of the next Ya Na.

Presenting the donation on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors and Management of Ernest Chemists, Mr Atagra expressed the company’s condolences to the Dagbon Kingdom.

He described the passing of the late Ya Na as a national tragedy and said the company considered it a responsibility to stand with the Kingdom during the period of mourning.

“As a responsive and responsible corporate citizen, which believes in culture and tradition, we share in the misfortune that has befallen the kingdom and consider it a duty to support the process,” he said.

The cash donation and products, valued at a combined GH¢70,000, were presented as the company’s contribution towards the ongoing traditional process.

Palace commends Ernest Chemists

The ECL delegation was warmly received at the Gbewaa Palace, where members were presented with symbolic cola in appreciation of the gesture.

The Palace, on behalf of the Regent, commended Ernest Chemists for demonstrating respect for Dagbon’s cultural traditions and standing with the Kingdom during its period of mourning.

The company said the gesture reflects its commitment to supporting Ghanaian communities and respecting the country’s cultural heritage.
