The Ga Traditional Council has been served with a motion for interlocutory injunction on Saturday's coronation of Dr. Joe Blankson as Ga Mantse.
The injunction is expected to stop the coronation from taking place until the determination of the substantive matter of Dr. Jo Blankson eligibility as the next Ga king.
The bailiff from the Judicial Committee of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, David Quarshie Kpovi told Joy News the Registrar at the Council Bernice Bimpong received the document.
Meanwhile, the Judicial Committee of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs was expected to begin hearing on the substantive matter from Friday afternoon.
The Abola Piam Royal Family filed the writ asking that the coronation be stopped. The injunction application also sought to bar any traditional office holder from associating with the event.
Already there are four separate suits pending against the selection of Dr. Blankson as the new Ga King.
But the planning committee for the coronation says the program will come off despite the seeming confusion. Spokesperson for the family Andy Lamptey said Dr. Blankson was unaware of the injunction.
The injunction is the latest twist to the winding dispute over who succeeds the late Ga King Bonnie Nii Amugi II.
On Thursday the Abola Piam Family outdoored Nii Tackie Obli II known in private life as Henry Nii Ayitey Ayitey, a 57- year -old publisher as the rightful heir.
Early this year the Teiko Tsuru family also outdoored Kevin Nii Tackie as their heir to the throne.
Meanwhile the Greater Accra Regional Security Council has called a meeting over the matter. Regional Minister Sheik I.C. Quaye is chairing the meeting which is expected to weigh the security implications of the coronation.
