Commissioner of GHRAJ, Emile Short, has appealed to the youth to resort to legal means of resolving disputes and grievances as against "instant justice”.
“It is vital for the youth to appreciate the significance of using democratic ways to resolve their grievances, which helps to deal with lawlessness that pervades our society”.
The youth today, he noted, face numerous problems such as unemployment, political-party rivalry and poverty which make them potentially predisposed to violence.
That not withstanding, he urged them to seek legal actions for their human rights abuses at the appropriate quarters instead of handling justice issues their own way.
He cited the Commission, Courts of Law and the Legal Aid Board as a few of such quarters.
Mr. Short was addressing a youth-gathering, predominantly, Senior High School Students, at the 3rd Annual Leadership Forum convened by the Youth for Human Rights International(YHRL) in Accra.
The forum was organized to inform young people of their rights and responsibilities and also train them to become effective leaders in the advocacy of fundamental human rights.
