Nigerian President-elect Muhammadu Buhari is being officially inaugurated Friday morning, taking over the reins of government from Goodluck Jonathan.
The swearing-in ceremony for the 72-year-old started at 9 a.m. local time.
Buhari's All Progressive Congress (APC) defeated ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) led by Mr Jonathan after elections in March this year.
Dignitaries scheduled to be at the inauguration include President John Mahama, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, South African President Jacob Zuma, Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe, China's Agriculture Minister Han Changfu and French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius.
