GCB says its property adjacent to the GOIL fuel station at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle is safe despite the fire that engulfed the place on Wednesday.
The assurance by the bank is in reaction to fears by a section of the public that the 9-storey building would be affected badly because of the fire that claimed about 200 lives, coupled with the flood.
Chief Operations Officer Samuel Sarpong says the building is safe.
“All staff [of the bank] and other occupants, tenants who occupy the building [are] safe and we thank God for that”, he said.
However, the Kwame Nkrumah Circle and the Ring Road West branches of the bank have been closed for business temporarily due to the floods.
Dozens drowned Wednesday evening as heavy rains hit hard in Accra.
In the midst of the torrential rains, tens of passengers, drivers and petrol station attendants were also burnt to death in a horrifying fire incident at the Goil fuel station at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.
Most of the deceased persons were seeking refuge at the filling station and houses and shops nearby but were burnt to death when an explosion occurred at the station.
