The Abetifi constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has elected its executives to steer the party for the next four years at a delegates' conference of the party at Nkwatia.
Mr Anthony Boye Akowuah was elected chairman when he polled 411 votes to defeat the only challenger Mr Kwame Osei who had 87 votes while Nana Abankwa Kissi was elected unopposed as the first Vice Chairman.The position of Second Vice Chairman went to Mr Peter Addison who had 357 votes to beat George Anim Kwakye who had 128 votes while Kwadwo Acheampong had 360 votes to become the constituency Secretary.
The others are Mr Asare Akoto Adarkwa, the Organizer; the position of Assistant Secretary went to William Owusu with the Youth Organizer going to Samuel Bonsu while Madam Cynthia Adjei defeated three other contestants to become the Women Organizer.
Addressing the delegates, the Second Eastern Regional Vice Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bodinga commended them for the peaceful election and said the country is going to face a lot of hardship and challenges in the years ahead with increases in taxes on rice and vegetable oil early next year.
He appealed to supporters of the party to intensify their campaign for the party to regain power in 2012.The elected Constituency Executives were later sown into office by the Eastern Regional Chairman of the party, Mr Yaw Gyekye Amoabeng.Source: GNA
