Stanbic Bank Ghana has supported the Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and Burns Centre and the Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital with GHC100, 000 and GHC52, 000 respectively.
The GHC100, 000 Burns Unit donation is to support the victims of the June 3 fire disaster some of who are receiving treatment at the facility.

Handing out dummy cheques of the donation to heads of the two units, Managing Director of Stanbic Bank, Alhassan Andani, revealed that staff of Stanbic Bank initially donated GHC50, 000 for the treatment of the disaster victims at the Burns unit, and it was topped up by management of the bank.
The GHC52, 000 donation was to assist the Cardio-thoracic Unit to purchase an equipment that is able to detect heart related problems.
Mr Andani said the donations are the bank’s way of assisting the two facilities and the victims of the June disaster.
He promised that the bank will do well to donate to the two facilities annually.
Receiving the items, head of the Burns unit, Dr Opoku Ware Ampomah, said the Stanbic Bank donation could not have come at a better time.
Dr Ampomah said although many donations have been pouring in since the June 3 flood and fire disaster, every dime has significantly assisted in efforts to cater for some of the fire victims on admission at his outfit.
He was happy for the support from corporate institutions to the disaster victims but said the cost for treating the burns is so high that more donations are needed.

Head of the Cardiothoracic Center, Dr Lawrence Serebour, also expressed similar sentiments about the donation.
He said the GHC52, 000 donation has even exceeded the GHC24, 000 the centre needed for the purchase of the heart disease detection equipment.
