Deputy Minister for Power, John Jinapor says it could take up to a week or two to fix faulty compressors on the jubilee field.
The jubilee partners last week shutdown the FPSO resulting in the cut of gas supply to the Atuabo processing plant.
The situation has affected the supply of natural gas to the Volta River Authority (VRA) which could compound the current energy crisis.
But Mr Jinapor is confident the situation would be resolved soon.
“The partners have communicated to us that the compressor on the FPSO has developed a fault and that has affected the supply of gas but be we are working the clock to ensure that the situation is addressed within a week to two weeks”.
He said the VRA would have to resort to crude oil to run the turbines because “given the situation we are better off procuring crude at a premium than plunging the nation into darkness, there’s no alternative”.
The minister is hopeful that the compressor will be repaired in time.
