The Administrative Officer of the Eastern Regional Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Rexford Godwin Ansah-Appiah, has announced his bid for the position of Deputy Regional Secretary of the party.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Koforidua after filling his nomination papers, Mr Ansah-Appiah
called for effective strategies to help improve upon the party's electoral fortunes in the region to be able to stay in power beyond 2012.
The NDC Regional Delegates' Congress is scheduled for December 19, at Somanya.
Mr Ansah- Appiah said having worked with the party from the branch through the constituency to the regional level; he had acquired sufficient experience that would enable him to help the NDC to come out with the required strategy to increase its influence in the region.
He said if elected, he would establish a research unit to collect information from the constituencies to guide the party to plan its campaigns and activities in the region scientifically so that in the end, it could win more constituencies.
Mr Ansah-Appiah said he did not see why with good strategies and logistics, the party should fail to win constituencies like Okere, Akwatia, Suhum, Ayensuano and Fanteakwa in the 2012 elections.
