A law lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and
Technology Ernest Abotsi has dismissed arguments advanced by a
constitutional lawyer Prof Kumado that the intended constitutional
review is a misplaced priority.
According to Lawyer Kumado resources allotted for the review could
better be used for rural development projects.
The review process is estimated to cost US 2.7 million and concerns
have already being raised by some experts about the cost of the
project.
However, Lawyer Ernest Abotsi believes the review is in order since it
is expected to address some short falls in the current 1992
constitution.
He expressed confidence in the ability of the review committee to
undertake effective job devoid of issues of corruption and
misappropriation of funds as advanced by Prof Kumado.
He is of the opinion the review process will correct distribution of
state resources which the 1992 constitution does not adequately
address.
