Reports reaching Myjoyonline.com indicate Interior Minister Mark Woyongo has hit a motorcyclist.
He has confirmed the accident to Joy News but said the lady rider is safe even though she suffered a hip dislocation.
She has been sent to Bawku to be attended to by bone specialists there.
The accident happened in Mr. Woyongo's hometown of Navrongo in the Upper East region.
The Minister, who is also the Member of Parliament for Navrongo Central, was driving himself when the accident occurred.
He told JoyNews’ Seth Kwame Boateng he signalled his traffic indicator to overtake the cyclist but suddenly the cyclist came to his lane. He hit her.
As of 4pm Sunday, the minister was going to the Navrongo Police station to write his statement.
His vehicle has been detained by the police, he said.
Mr. Woyongo is in his constituency to pick up nomination forms for the November 7 parliamentary primaries of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The party opened nominations for its presidential and parliamentary primaries this week.
Nominations close on September 10.
