The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission and organized labour have agreed on the principle to be used in determining the lowest salary to be paid workers on the single spine salary structure.
This should pave the way for negotiations to begin on the base pay itself.
This formula was agreed at a meeting on Friday morning, boycotted by the civil servants and local government staff association.
Chief Executive of the Commission George Smith Graham tells Joy Business he is happy with the progress made so far.
