Ghanaians have been urged not to prejudge the safety standards of local airline Starbow following yesterday’s accident at the Tamale airport.
Transport Minister Dzifa Ativor is convinced all investigative processes are underway and a report will be made available in no time.
The plane from Accra to Tamale overshot the run way at Tamale Airport and broke through a barricade.
There were no injuries reported but fear gripped passengers some of whom, for a moment thought their end had come.
This is the third such incident involving Starbow over a year.
Mrs. Attivor who was addressing a meet the press series said the next line of action will be determined by recommendations presented in the Ghana Civil Aviation report.
The Airline was given a safety certificate barely two weeks ago raising concerns about the credibility of that certificate but the minister is cautioning against jumping into hasty conclusions.
"There is scheduled inspection for aircrafts that ply our routes and there is also random checks that is carried out but you will agree with me that after the safety certificate was given to Starbow, anything can happen after that.
"...It can happen to any equipment but I believe the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority is well equipped to check those things and where necessary guide them to ensure that our airspace continues to be one of the best in West Africa.
