The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Afram Rural Bank in the Afram Plains, Mr Emmanuel Augustine Siaw, has appealed to schools, market women and organizations to assist maize farmers to sell their produce to be able to settle their loans.
He said the “Savior farms” of the Savior Church of Ghana had in stock over one thousand bags of maize, while individuals and farmer- based organizations were also finding it difficult to market large quantities of maize, harvested last year.
Mr Siaw, who told the GNA in an interview at Donkorkrom, said some market women had wanted to buy the produce at very cheap prices but the farmers refused to sell at those prices to avoid incurring debts.
The farmers, therefore, appealed to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to assist them to market their produce to be able to pay their loans and get adequate funds for production this season.
