Procurement entities yet to file their procurement plans for this year with the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) have seven more days to do so.
The PPA says any submission after the deadline would not be approved.
According to the board, it has been compelled to take this decision because of the gross apathy exhibited by most state institutions in submitting their procurement plans.
Chief Executive of the PPA, Samuel Sallas Mensah, says the delays are unacceptable.
“We just want to ask the entities to comply; sometimes some of these things, we just have to be tough and if we are tough I think they will comply. They will know that there is no way out but this is the way we have to do it,” he said.
Ministries, departments and agencies are required by law to furnish the PPA with their shopping lists in good time to aid release of funds to speed up execution of government business.
This allows the PPA and the Finance Ministry ample time to vet requests and disburse monies for payment.
But Mr Mensah said only 66 of the over 1,000 entities, which should have filed, have so far complied.
