The Management of Zain Ghana on Tuesday presented a cheque for GHc47, 500 to three winners of the first draw of "Live Your Dream" promotion.
Mr Sammuel Nana Mireku, an electrician, the first winner, had GHC37, 500, with Mr Fred Losu, and Mr Austin Osei Amponsah, second and third winners respectively receiving GHc5, 000 each.
About 40 subscribers whose numbers were drawn were also rewarded with consolation prices including netbooks, mobile phones, top-ups and modems.
Mr Tara Squire, Consumer Segment and Payphone Manager of Zain, who presented the cheques on behalf of the management, said the company's objective was to empower its customers to become passionate and creative.
"We want to encourage our customers to be radiant by leading the way in imagination and vision; since we now have over one million subscribers within six months of operating in the country and we are marching towards our customer target for 2009", he said.
The 10 week-promotion is meant to reward 600 fixed and cellular prepaid customers and empower them through the provision of funds to enable them to embark on their dream project.
Every week, Zain will draw 100 numbers at random, inviting the top number drawn to play a game which will give them an opportunity to win up to GHc75, 000.
Mr Squire said "The additional gameshow element is the latest twist to the promotion which saw a thousand Zain customers win Zain products and over GHc150, 000 in cash prizes.
"This year, 100 winners will be drawn each week with 97 winning Zain products and the top three winners will be rewarded with cash."
A winner, Mr Mireku, in an interview with the GNA, expressed appreciation to the management of Zain for the initiative.
He said the money he won would enable him to commence the long cherished dream of building a house for his family.
"It has always been my dream to get a decent apartment for my family. Zain has really made my dream come true", he said.
Zain is a leading telecommunications operator across the Middle East and Africa, providing mobile and data services to 64.7 million customers in about 24 countries.
